SUMMARY: Valencia Baryton Project
DESCRIPTION:The heart of the Valencia Baryton Project is the trio of baryton\, viola\, and violoncello\, for which Haydn wrote 123 works of outstanding beauty as the court composer for the Prince Esterhazy of Austria. A cross between the viol da gamba and lirone\, with 10 resonating and plucked strings down the back of the instrument\, the baryton gives the traditional string trio an entirely new dimension. \n\n\n\nAudiences throughout the Americas and Europe have delighted in what is considered to have been the pinnacle of aristocratic instruments in the classical era. The Project’s work has been described as “beautifully polished” (Musicalifeiten) and “delightfully inventive” (The Strad). \n\n\n\nPROGRAM: \n\n\n\n\nTomasini Baryton – Trio in C Major\, K. 19\n\n\n\nPickup – Prelude No. 1\n\n\n\nHaydn Baryton – Trio No. 50 in D Major\, Hob. SUMMARY:Isidore Quartet
DESCRIPTION:“Brahms: the Admirer” explores the composer’s mastery of both polyphonic choral writing and the art of the string quartet with complementary works of those he admired\, Bach and Beethoven. \n\n\n\nWinner of a 2023 Avery Fisher Career Grant and the 14th Banff International String Quartet Competition in 2022\, the Isidore String Quartet was formed in 2019 at the Juilliard School. The name is a tribute to the legendary Juilliard Quartet member\, violinist Isidore Cohen. It also acknowledges a shared affection for a certain libation: legend has it a Greek monk named Isidore concocted the first genuine vodka recipe for the Grand Duchy of Moscow! \n\n\n\nPROGRAM: \n\n\n\n\nBach (arr. For the past two decades the quartet has set standards by making familiar repertoire accessible in new ways\, and by constantly seeking interaction with the audience. \n\n\n\nIn 2019 — as the first ensemble ever — it was honored with the Frankfurt Music Prize. In spring 2024\, cellist Yuya Okamoto joined the quartet’s esteemed ranks\, adding a new dimension. \n\n\n\nPROGRAM: \n\n\n\n\nBeethoven – String Quartet in G Major\, Op. 18\, No. 2\n\n\n\nBritten – Three Divertimenti for String Quartet\n\n\n\nBrahms – String Quartet in A minor\, Op. 51\, No. 2
