SUMMARY:Merz Trio
DESCRIPTION:Image Credit: Dimitri Mais\n\n\n\nHailing from opposite corners of the globe\, the members of the Merz Trio met in the middle of a snow storm in NYC in December 2016\, and now spend the majority of their lives together\, rehearsing and traveling. \n\n\n\nTheir rehearsal room is a noisy fusion of interests: music of all varieties\, literature\, theater\, cooking\, dance\, running\, unnecessarily snobbish ideas about beverages. They love this messiness. They play in living rooms and large halls; galleries and schools; black box theaters and crypts. There are very few places the trio does not feel at home. \n\n\n\nPROGRAM \n\n\n\n\nBrahms – Trio No. 2 in C Major\, Op. 87\n\n\n\nBrahms – Trio No. 3 in C minor\, Op. 101\n\n\n\nBrahms – Trio No. 1 in B Major\, Op. 8\n\n\n\n\n\nBUY TICKETS ONLINE\n\n\n\n\nPlease see our Tickets page for additional ways to buy tickets.

SUMMARY:Castalian String Quartet
DESCRIPTION:“A powerful individuality of sound matched by an instinctive singularity of musical intention” — The Scotsman \n\n\n\nFormed in 2011\, the Castalian String Quartet has distinguished itself as one of today’s most dynamic young quartets. Appointed the inaugural Hans Keller String Quartet in Residence at the Oxford University Faculty of Music in 2021\, it also received the Royal Philharmonic Society’s 2019 Young Artists Award. \n\n\n\nThe name is derived from the Castalian Spring in the ancient city of Delphi. In mythology\, the nymph Castalia transformed herself into a fountain to evade Apollo\, creating a source of poetic inspiration for all who drink from her waters. \n\n\n\nPROGRAM \n\n\n\n\nBeethoven – Quartet in B-flat Major\, Op. 130\n\n\n\nJanáček – Quartet No. 1\, “Kreutzer Sonata”\n\n\n\nMendelssohn – Quartet No. 6 in F minor\, Op. 80\n\n\n\n\n\nBUY TICKETS

SUMMARY:CANCELED: Calidore String Quartet
DESCRIPTION:Its name is a tribute to its original home\, an amalgam of California and doré\, which is French for “golden\,” as in the Golden State. \nWithin two years of its founding at the Colburn School of Music in Los Angeles\, the Calidore String Quartet won grand prizes in virtually every U.S. chamber music competition (including Coleman)\, and has since performed in major venues throughout North America\, Europe\, and Asia. It is currently in residence with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s Bowers Program. \nCalidore is renowned for its cohesive music-making. “Four more individual musicians are unimaginable\,” the Washington Post observed. “Yet these speak\, breathe\, think\, and feel as one.” \nPROGRAM\n“Schubert in Bohemia” \nDvořák – Quartet No. 12 in F Major\, Op. 96\, “American”\nJanáček – Quartet No. 1\, “Kreutzer Sonata”\nSchubert – Quartet No. 15 in G Major\, Op. 161\, D. 887

SUMMARY:CANCELED: Dover Quartet
DESCRIPTION:As Strings Magazine observed after this “young American string quartet of the moment” (New Yorker) won every prize at the Banff Competition\, received an Avery Fisher Career Grant\, and was named a Cleveland Quartet Award-winner\, the Dover Quartet’s ascent to chamber music’s uppermost firmament has been “practically meteoric.” \nThe Dover Quartet\, whose name pays tribute to Dover Beach by fellow Curtis alumnus Samuel Barber\, is quartet in residence for the Kennedy Center\, Chamber Music Northwest\, Artosphere\, the Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival\, Peoples’ Symphony in New York\, and the Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University. \n“With their exceptional interpretative maturity\, tonal refinement\, and taut ensemble\,” Strad concluded\, Dover is “pulling away from their peers.” \nPROGRAM \nHaydn – Quartet No. 61 in D minor\, Op. 76\, No. 2\, “Quinten”\nShostakovich – Quartet No. 8 in C minor\, Op. 110\nDvořák – Quartet No. 13 in G Major\, Op. 106
